Reel Pink Update: Boa Technology’s Lace for the Cure Races For the Cure
Wednesday October 20th 2010, 2:13 pm

Reel Pink in action! 30 Boa employees, friends, and family members were pretty in pink on October 3rd. That was the day they joined over 50,000 people united in downtown Denver for the Race for the Cure, one of the nation’s biggest such events to help fight breast cancer.

The Boa Team, called “Lace for the Cure”, worked together to raise $1,555 for the Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. The team ranged from Boa’s Inventory Coordinator aiming to crack the 20-minute barrier for the 5K distance, to those aiming to simply complete the 3.1-mile course. The whole team was united for one common purpose, however: to do their part in helping to fight breast cancer.

“We had speedsters running for time and also recreational walkers,” says Boa President Mark Soderberg, who also took part in the event. “The important thing is that we were out there, supporting a very important cause that affects so many of us, both directly and indirectly.”

Accounts Payable Specialist Alyse Monachino honored the cause by running her first-ever race. “Race for the Cure was a way for me to set a goal and challenge myself,” she says. “It is about being happy and feeling healthy.”

Boa Technology’s participation in Race for the Cure reflects part of a larger company commitment to helping beat breast cancer. In September, the company launched its “Reel Pink” promotion, which provides pink Boa dials to anybody donating $10 to the Beast Cancer Network of Strength. Boa Lacing System Reviews: The New Simms RiverTrek Wading Boot
Monday October 18th 2010, 5:48 pm

Following the overwhelming success of the Korkers Guide and Predator wading boots in 2010, more and more fishing manufactures are seeing the light and recognizing the benefits the Boa Lacing System adds to superior fly fishing product and apparel. Check out this Boa Lacing System review from the crew at Midcurrent.com covering the new Simms RiverTrek wading boot.

Orginally Posted on Midcurrent.com

Simms-Rivertek_300In early August, we visited the Simms design and production facility in Bozeman, Montana to get a sneak peek at their new wading boot, the RiverTek Boa, which features PVC uppers for super-easy cleaning and the Boa Lacing System. For those who haven’t tried Boa laces — a coated braided wire system that tightens via a knob at the top of the boot tongue — they make lace-tightening and fit a no brainer. But more importantly, if your fingers are freezing, wet, or just tired, the instant-release feature makes boot removal a breeze. The new RiverTek Boa also features Simms’s CleanStream design along with their Vibram StreamTread.

With a Boa lacing system providing simple, even closure, the Rivertek is designed to take Simms wading boots to the next level in environmentally conscious design. Featuring StreamTread Vibram soles and minimum exposed stitching, the boot is specifically designed to be easy to clean.

The RiverTek Boa will begin showing up at Simms retailers in the Spring of 2011 and will retail for $169.95.

His email sums up the presence Team Honey Stinger had at the 2010 24 Hours of Moab this past weekend. They rocked it! Here’s the email below and we will get more photos up once they are available!

From Len:
Below is an initial report with some editorial coverage links/ pics/ video from 24 Hours of Moab. Thanks to your support we had a great cap to the season and scored some National Championship jerseys (to add to Pete Kalmes’ National title from Cat 1 earlier). We had a huge presence this year with multiple teams wearing the kit and/ or racing under the Honey Stinger/ Trek team name. The announcer must have said Honey Stinger hundreds of times!

Debunking Boa Snowboard Boot Lace Myths
Myth: “I heard that boa is for beginning snowboarders.”
Fact: Ask pro athletes like Gretchen Blieler and Travis Rice how beginner the solution is. Boa snowboard laces have been on the feet of numerous Olympic and X Game medalists. They turn to Boa for the precision, durability and on-the-fly adjustability that the Boa Lacing System provides.

Myth: “Boa snowboard boot laces are a rental-boot solution, right?”
Fact: The truth is, the Boa user interface is easy to use and understand, which actually does make it a great rental solution. However, here’s the important point. Nearly a third of all boots sold in the world today include the Boa Lacing System. Only seven percent of our entire production goes into the rental market.

Myth: “It doesn’t seem as durable as a traditional lace.”
Fact: With over six million pairs of footwear on the market today, across more than 90 different footwear brands, we still have a warranty support department made up of a single person, and he stays pretty bored. Our equipment is all designed and tested to handle the loads of extreme sports like snowboarding, motocross, and mountain biking.
