Words of wisdom from 2010 Cyclocross Nationals Champ Todd Wells who just happens to sport the Boa Lacing System every race in his Specialized S-Works cycling shoes. Learn it. Live it. Love it. The Boa Lacing System provides a secure and fast glove-like fit, on-the-fly micro-adjustment, is lightweight, and sheds water, ice and mud.

Ashley Thornton...wins the Dirksen Derby again!

From Ashley
This past weekend ended up going super good. On Friday night I was in our annual in town rail jam at Skjersaa’s, my local shop! The set-up was huge. It was a scaffolding set-up with really narrow in runs into the 2 features. There was a down (flat bar) that stood 6 feet plus off the ground which was crazy in it self. The other feature was a super fun jump with a barrel to bonk. There were 5 girls plus one female skier. We are all friends and were having a blast in front of a good size crowd. I rode solid and did a good variety of tricks. I stuck most of my tricks I tried and had a wonderful time. Three of us female snowboarders and the one skier made the finals and at the end of the night I brought home $250 and 1st place. It is always awesome to win money while having a great time. The following day was the Dirksen Derby at Mt. Bachelor. A charity race for a local that was injured while snowboarding Tyler Ekland, put on by local pro rider Josh Dirksen. It was the 4th year of the event and a fantastic time at that. It was a big turn out. A lot of old school pro’s and current pro’s attended the fun event. It was a combined time of 2 different courses, It consisted of a tight bank course through the tress on one side and a more wide open bank course on the other side. The women, splitboard, old and wiser and sit-ski event took place saturday in the pouring rain (best day in the rain ever!) I had good runs on both courses and ended up 1st place for the day! I was pumped! Dirksen had awesome prizes donated by his sponsor’s which was super rad. I got hooked up with a sick Dakine back pack full of stuff including a new HD Go Pro Camara, Yay!!!!! The next day was the Men’s event, the top 3 ladies had the chance to race the guys. I was a combined time of I Believe 7 seconds faster on Sundays race but haven’t seen full results. It was great weather for Sunday and the course ran way smoother and faster. Here is the Transworld write up on the event!

Laying it all on the line last weekend, Todd Wells (Specialized BG S-Works) and Jeremy Powers (Lake MX330’s) battled it out to the very end of a nasty Cyclocross National Championship race, both wearing Boa cycling shoes. Powers & Wells were duking it out for the first half of the race. They crashed and Powers lost ground. Wells hung on for the win, Powers third. Check out all the details at CXMagazine.com

Boa Lacing System Reviews: Fly Fisherman Magazine Loves Boa Fly Fishing Boots

Another strong Boa Lacing System review and statement from one of the most respected fly fishing pubs around! This Boa Lacing System review by Fly Fisherman Magazine in the 2011 Gear Guide sums it up it: Boa fly fishing boots don’t come undone, don’t break and a customizable fit that can’t be beat!

From Fly Fisherman Magazine’s Gear Guide 2011 –
“Our editors and field testers love the Boa Lacing System used on some Simms and Korkers wading boots. The same system is also used on ice-climbing boots, snow board boots, performance cycling shoes and, hunting boots. Boa laces don’t come undone, the stainless cables don’t break or wear out, there are no hanging loops to catch on branches or trip you up, and you can tighten them, and release them, wearing mittens.

Most importantly, when you crank the dial, the cables tighten evenly from the ankles down through the toes for the best possible support, comfort, and performance. Some lace-ups leave you with loose toes or no circulation in the ankles.

Another benefit is that the Boa Lacing System in non-porous and easy to clean-which brings us to the topic of aquatic nuisances such as Didymosphenia geminata (didymo), whirling disease, New Zealand mud snails, and other unwanted hithhikers using wading boots as transport.

There is no silver bullet that will stop the spread of these types of nuisances. The only way to slow their spread and protect you favorite waters is to clean, dry, and inspect your boots before and after evry outing.”
