Driving the successful launch of the Boa Closure System on prescription and consumer retail medical braces by Futuro, DeRoyal, and Exos, current Boa Product Manager Jimmy Capra has been promoted to Director of the new Medical Business Unit. Capra says, “As we have become more visible in the medical field, we have received interest from a growing number of potential orthopedic and prosthesis device partners. They see the inherent added value of having the Boa Closure System on their products and feel confident that their consumers will too.”

Created by Gary Hammerslag in 1998 for the snowboard boot industry, the Boa Closure System provides quick on and off customized comfort with smooth, even closure and no pressure points. Once locked into place, Boa reels and laces stay that way. Boa Technology guarantees the Boa Closure System reel and laces for the lifetime of the product.

“We are really energized here at Boa Technology,” says Boa President, Mark Soderberg. “The launch of the new Medical Business Unit coupled with the incredible momentum we have in terms of category expansion, sales, product development and brand awareness, we want to ensure that we can provide the best service to our customers and partners. This new Medical Business Unit is a reflective commitment to positive and steady growth in the medical category for 2011 and beyond.”

HelpJapan

On Friday, March 11th 2011, Japan was thrust into a crisis that the country’s prime minister is calling “the worst since World War II”. In the wake of a massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake, tsunami and continued aftershocks, thousands have lost their lives. Millions are without shelter, water, or power. Our own friends and co-workers at our Boa Asia office in Chiba City are among those affected by the disaster – a small degree of separation that has given all of us at Boa Technology in Denver, Colorado, a new and startling perspective.

Following this tragic event, Boa Technology is helping to support the efforts of the American Red Cross to raise funds for disaster relief in Japan.

Please join us in our efforts by visiting the American Red Cross online and donating to Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami. You can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation towards helping those affected.

The Boa Closure System Guarantees Life-Long Fit and Footwear Lace Durability on Red Wing Work Boots

The team at Boa Technology understands that in construction or any skilled industrial work environment, a sturdy pair of work boots that provides comfort, safety and closure is crucial. The award-winning, patented Boa Closure System, is engineered to withstand the most demanding conditions and weather, and is recognized by top global footwear manufacturers like Red Wing as the most durable and secure closure system on the market.

Backed by the Boa Dialed In For Life Guarantee, Boa Technology is constantly creating and testing footwear closure solutions that provide all-day comfort, speed, security and reliability for the world’s top manufacturers. Product testing and engineering plays a critical role in everything that Boa does to create and guarantee its technology. Testers in the utility and construction fields log tens of thousands of hard-working hours putting the Boa Closure System to the test.

“Each test boot averages 1,761 work hours and the Boa Closure System has out-lasted the boot each and every time,” says Boa Field Testing Coordinator Rob Peterson. “One hardy worker logged 2,900 hours and Boa was the last part of the boot still intact. These testers ranged from home builders, to welders, to ranchers, to cement masons, to landscapers.”

Durability isn’t the only distinct feature and benefit Boa offers. Created in 1998 by Gary Hammerslag, the Boa Closure System is as simple as it looks, consisting of a lace, a spool, guides and a reel. Unlike traditional shoelaces that can cause uneven pressure due to friction when tied, the Boa Closure System allows the lace to equalize pressure around the foot, creating a customized, glove-like-fit that never comes untied. With one quick turn of the Boa reel, the shoe or boot is tightened and firmly locked in place where it will stay. Easy-to-clean, Boa laces, guides and reels are designed to repel dirt and grime. Boa Ski Boot Review: The SCARPA Alien 1.0 Rando Race Boot has Landed

Lightweight carbon fiber construction. Check. Boa Closure System locking it all together. Double check! Here’s a sneak peek of the new SCARPA Alien 1.0 ski mountaineering race boot from Wildsnow.com. Can’t wait to get my hands on a pair of these speedsters with Boa!

Alien

Text From Wild Snow.com
From Scarpa representative, lightly edited by WildSnow.com staff editing team: One attention grabbing feature of Scarpa Alien ski boots is an external closure that uses the Boa Lacing System. This offers super easy and quick adjustment, and yields a glove-like fit – the Boa wraps the lower boot around your foot in a form-fitting precise way. It is a perfect application for this technology. SCARPA worked with Boa and has patented (SCARPA’s patent) the unique, tool-less replaceable eyelets.

There are two boots: Alien 1.0 and the Alien.
Alien 1.0 is the lighter of the two boots, employing carbon-fiber construction. It’s what a lot of the top racers on the rando circuit are now using (even though this boot hits the market officially for F11, SCARPA has had this boot on many of its racers this and last season).

Alien 1.0 is 680 grams per boot, or 1 pound, 7.98 ounces. That makes it, near as we can tell, the lightest rando boot out there besides the two full carbon fiber boots (and they are not very much lighter), but more importantly we feel that it’s the highest performing one. That’s evidenced by the fact that, like I said, it’s being used by many of the top-winning rando racers right now.
