Boa hits the trails at Colorado’s Greenland 25K
With A Turn of the Knob, Dehner Adjusts to Trail Running
Boa Sales Coordinator Mikey Dehner didn’t mess around in choosing her first trail race. With a solid finish at last year’s Philadelphia Marathon in her back pocket, she looked past the local cushy 5K and 10K races on gravel paths and instead turned her sights to the Greenland 25K. Held 30 miles south of Denver on the cusp of the Rocky Mountain foothills, the Greenland challenges runners with undulating singletrack and enough vertical gain to humble the most fit road runners.

Dehner shows off her shameless, promotional side before the race.
Dehner used the race as an opportunity to test her gusto and the Boa Lacing System. After turning the knob to tighten her laces at the Starting Line, Dehner set foot on the trails along with 300 other runners. She was immediately struck by the number of runners stuck with traditional shoe laces. “Within the first four miles, I saw at least five runners jump off to the side, squat down and retie their shoes,” she says. “I even heard a few shout to their running partners: ‘Hang on, gotta tie my shoes.’” Dehner admits grinning to herself as she ran past.
“I didn’t have to adjust until the first water stop at about 3.5 miles in,” she explains. “And even then it was only a couple of clicks and away I went again. It was nice to have such a solid fit and not to have think about it. I was also cognizant of the heel hold they provided … especially on the hills. I had no slippage, no blisters. Just a great, high-performance fit.”
